Slow Cooker Ham and Lentil Stew!

Do y’all have a slow cooker? They are super convenient if you’re busy, or if you don’t know how to cook. Double bonus for people that are busy AND don’t know how to cook. Try this healthy recipe:

One ham bone (if there’s some meat left on it, leave it on)
3-4 cups (about 1 lb) of chopped ham
2 cups (1 lb) lentils
1 large onion, chopped
4-6 celery stalks, chopped
4 cups broth
4 cups water

Put everything in your slow cooker.
Set for eight to ten hours, and let it do it’s thing!
Stir and pull out all the bones.
Place the slow cooker container in the refrigerator until all the fat rises to the top.
Scrape the fat off with a spoon and get rid of it.
Re-warm the stew.

Serves 10-12. ENJOY!!!

If you want to skip the fat scraping step, that will work too. Personally, I just find it a bit rich if I leave it in there. I usually make this dish after I’ve roasted a ham to make sure nothing goes to waste. I just save some of the meat to put in the slow cooker instead of eating all of it.
