Word of the Week: Relax!

  • to make less tense, rigid, or firm; make lax: to relax the muscles.
  • to diminish the force of.
  • to slacken or abate, as effort, attention, etc.
  • to make less strict or severe, as rules, discipline, etc.
  • to release or bring relief from the effects of tension, anxiety, etc.

This is a tough one for a lot of people. Many of us work, work, work the days away. We don’t take time for ourselves, and before you know it, years have gone by.

What happened?

Sometimes we need to stop, relax, and enjoy more life. You know, stop and smell the roses.

Purple Rose

I remind myself of this all the time. I catch myself on the go waaaay too often. Luckily, I’ve picked up on this, and learned to chill out a bit. I want you to try the same!

One of my new favorite sayings when I get going too much is: be a human being, instead of a human doing.

Go ahead and steal that.

It’s really helped with my mindset, and helped me to be a happier person. I hope practicing to relax can do the same for you!!!

ACTION STEP: Pick a time during the day when you don’t have any distractions. Put away any electronics, turn off the lights, and lay down. Close your eyes, and do some deep breathing exercises. Try to focus on only the breathing, nothing else. Start with trying this for one minute today. Then the tomorrow try two minutes. Work up to seven minutes by the end of the week.

Report back and let me know if that helps you relax. I hope it does!

I’ll be back next week! Stay tuned!
